Block Party Permit / Temporary Street Closure

The Arroyo Grande Police Department must receive a completed application for a temporary street closure at least ten (10) business days before the scheduled date of the requested closure.

Definition of Temporary Street Closure

A block party or similar occurrence not exceeding one (1) city block on other than arterial or collector street along which at least 2/3 of the area is in a residential zone, as specified by the Arroyo Grande Municipal Code, and to which a simple majority (greater than 50%) of the owners, residents or tenants of the properties fronting upon such area consent. A list of 50% of the owners, residents or tenants other properties fronting upon the proposed block party site must be included with this application. The block party or similar occurrence must be sponsored solely by residents, tenants or owners and shall not be for commercial or advertising purposes or profit.

Public property, e.g. roadways and sidewalks, must be returned to pre-event condition immediately upon conclusion of the block party or the applicant may be subject to citation for any violations(s) of applicable sections(s) of the Arroyo Grande Municipal Code or the California Penal Code.
