City Parks & Facilities
Arroyo Grande prides itself on its beautiful array of parks, open space, and its multiple facilities for our community. We recognize the importance of parks and open space as they improve our psychological health, strengthen our communities, and make our town a more attractive place to live and work. See below to learn more about our local parks!

PARKS
Strother Park
1150 Huansa Road. Two play structures are available for big and preschool age children. Situated along the bank of Arroyo Grande Creek and the Chumash Reservation Site, this park has a lot of trees and is a great place for birthday parties, barbecues, or just hanging out. Other amenities include horseshoe pits, frisbee golf, a softball area, basketball courts, and grass volleyball. BBQ areas can be rented.
Elm Street Park & Off-Leash Dog Park
1221 Ash Street. This park is located next to the Soto Sports Complex and the Mark M. Millis Community Center. This park has a large grass area, a BBQ area available for rent, the only off-leash dog park in the Five Cities, and a Community Garden with rentable plots. Newly added in Fall 2022 is the nationally accredited Kiwanis Inclusive Playground.
Rancho Grande Park
500 James Way. Rancho Grande Park includes the Mel Cottrell playground structures, a basketball court, a sand volleyball court, baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, beautiful open green spaces, and AG's only large sundial. BBQ areas are available to rent.
Centennial Park & Gazebo
Located at Olohan Alley & Short Street. At this quant park, you will likely run into one of the many local roosters or walk down to the creek or just enjoy a picnic at one of the many picnic tables. You can also check out the only Swinging Bridge in California. The local Farmer's Market is also held here every Saturday from 12:30 - 2:30 pm.
Heritage Square Park & Rotary Bandstand
205 Nelson Street. This beautiful bandstand and park offers a beautiful grass area and preschool aged playground. This facility is used throughout the year for community events and is available for rental on a limited basis.
Hart-Collett Memorial Park
201 Traffic Way at Bridge Street. This park was dedicated to the memory of Harry Hart and Robert "Bob" Collett who were both long-time firemen for the AG Fire Department. Just a short walk from the Arroyo Grande Village, the park has tables and benches for picnics or just to enjoy the colorful flower beds and trees.
Health Fitness Park
834 Fair Oaks Avenue. There are exercise stations and a heart check station for your use along with jogging trails.
Howard Mankins Hoosegow Park
150 LePoint Street. This mini-park overlooks the Arroyo Grande Village and contains the old City Jail built around 1910.
Kingo Park
1501 Huckleberry Avenue. This pocket park is located in the Berry Gardens residential development. It has a small tot play structure, picnic tables and barbeque grills.
Woodside Park or also known as Park Pequeno
Woodside Drive. This neighborhood park has a great grass space and a picnic bench for a quiet lunch or to just relax.
Police Tribute Park
200 N. Halcyon Road. This honorarium park is a tribute to our fellow Police Officers. It is a great place to have lunch with multiple benches and beautiful landscaping.
Terra de Oro Park
311 Oro Drive. This is a small neighborhood park with a play structure, long walking path and benches.
Dower Wayside Park
Traffic Way. This pocket park is an honor of Beatrice Dower and was established in 1967. It is a great place to have lunch and relax under the trees. Some fun history: Beatrice Dower was married to a John Dower; the two owned property in the Jones Tract of Arroyo Grande. She was a big deal there in the Eastern Star, an auxiliary of the Masonic Lodge, and in 1966 she donated the land for the "WELCOME TO ARROYO GRANDE" sign.
Fire Resistive Landscaping Demonstration Garden
Corner of Traffic and Station Way. Fire Resistive Landscaping is the process of creating an area around a house or structure that is resistant to wildfires while providing a pleasant appearance and enhancing the environment. The demonstration garden presents both an example of fire resistive landscaping and a collection of fire resistive plants. Along the garden paths are markers with the names of the plant species.
FACILITIES
Soto Sports Complex
The Soto Sports Complex is an 18-acre space that sees thousands of athletes using the fields annually. It offers 5 lighted tennis courts, 1 tennis court marked for 4 pickleball courts, 2 Little League fields, 1 lighted Babe Ruth field, 4 lighted softball fields. The fields are converted for soccer and football use in the Fall.
Fields
The space includes seven different fields that are used for baseball, soccer, softball, softball and so much more. Fields include Pilg, Campbell, Volunteer, Ikeda, Porter, Santos and Don Roberts. Call 805-473-5474 if you would like to reserve field space.
Tennis & Pickleball Courts
All courts are lighted courts with four tennis courts and two pickleball courts.
OPEN SPACE & WILDLIFE PRESERVE
James Way Oak Habitat
This area is located on James Way and has equestrian and jogging/walking trails for your use. This 73-acre habitat is an oak preserve and winds along a hillside through majestic old oaks. Wildlife such as birds of prey, deer, fox, bobcats, and rabbits are found in this unique natural area. The area is open from 7 am to Sunset.
